I'm watching it via Netflix here in the States. I wish it was available directly on the TV here it the States. I hope I won't have to wait too long to watch it on Netflix.

I adore "Doc Martin" and can't wait for Series 5! My English friend got me interested and I started watching on BBC America. Couldn't wait to see what was going to happen so I bought the entire series on DVD. My husband is hooked as well as other friends. If anyone out there has any influence, please continue to produce this series!! It has almost a cult following here in the states.

Have watched all four seasons on PBS here in Washington, DC. Brilliant show, especially the tension between Louisa and the DOC. Caroline Catz is a wonderful actress as is Stephanie Cole as Aunt Joan who will be missed in the new series as she has another gig at the moment. Saw her on Coronation Street in the UK this summer. I just watched an interview with Martin Clunes on youtube where he said, "..they don't even know what Doc Martin is in America.." - wow! I wonder if he knows how many of us are addicted! Can't wait for season 5 - whether on Public TV or DVD!

We've watched this on PBS since last winter and love it. Will Martin and Louisa ever get together? They are so good for each other. I haven't yet seen the ep where they break up and am dying to know what happened!

My husband and I are hooked. We live in north east Texas. We watched the first 3 seasons on Netflix--they don't have the fourth. So we bought the 4th Season from Amazon. The actors are perfect. Louisa is a terrific personality. I love her pony tail!!! PortWenn is lovely. The actors are excellent. Clunes and Catz have such chemistry. Can't wait for Season 5.

Question: Does anyone know what type of music is the intro? It is so evocative and pleasant

It seems that most of the positive comments are originating in the U.S.A., but I am a proud Canadian and would break the speed limit to arrive home in time to watch Doc Martin. It's an amazing program, and I'm very very happy to read that Series 5 is in progress. Just need to know what happens after Louisa had their baby. Hopefully I will find it on PBS or Vision. Eileen

Here's a tip for the truly addicted to Doc Martin or any other British show, such as Lewis, title Inspector Lewis in the u.s. you may also discover some excellent Brit shows you never heard of such as Judge John Deed and New Tricks. Long long before they are released for netflix or PBS they are available at Amazon.co.uk even earlier and cheaper than amazon.com. There is one easly remedied drawback. They are region 2 dvd's and while they may play in your amc compuetr they wont play in your normal american DVD machine. NO WORRY! From the american Amazon.com urchase a dirt cheap $40-$60 region FREE dvd player. It'll play all DVDs from anywhre in the workd including all local netflix then you can see Doc Martin or Inspector Lewis before anyone else in the states, except me of course who have been doing this for years. There are all kinds or delicious Brit shows at amazon.co.uk you never heard of and never will anywhere else.

Here is another fan in Texas. I also watched on Netflix. I could not get anything else done before I finished the series. Compulsively, I have watched straight through twice. Perhaps someone in the UK will kindly upload the Season 5 episodes to YouTube ASAP!

I am so glad I found your blog! As an avid Doc Martin fan, I too look forward to the release of the latest season. I am in the States as well, watching via Netflix. FYI -I found two movies, prequels to the TV series, that will be available on Netflix as of August 30th. Also, PBS has been airing re-runs of Doc Martin.

Just finished watching all 4 seasons this with my boyfriend. Funny enough it was in our recommended shows because I watched Coupling and got my boyfriend hooked on that too. I am glad there's going to be a 5th season and cannot wait to watch it!

Greetings from the East Coast USA btw!

SO ANXIOUS for season 5!! I am in love with Martin and Louisa! What a wonderful series! Cannot wait to see the entire season 5! I might have to go back and watch 1-4 again..even though I just finished!

My son and I are hooked. We just finished what was available on Netflix and were disappointed as we thought that was the end of the series. This is the first I have heard of a Series 5. I hope it is true. This is a show that could just keep going and going as far as I am concerned. I would like to see the Doc smile just a bit more. I looked up Port Isaac (Port Wenn) on the internet and found out the house next door to the Doc's is a vacation rental. Will have to put on my to do list.

Here in the states, many of us are--for lack of a stronger word--enthusiastically awaiting the start of Doc Martin (Series 5). I know that September 12th is slated for the airing of the first episode on itv1. Can anyone tell me when/where we here in the US will get to see the series? Or; is it possible to watch it 'streaming' on itv1's webpage the night of the broadcast? I'm an addict...I freely admit that, and I've been going through frequent bouts of delirium tremens ever since the end of the final episode of series 4. Watching "The Worst Week of My Life" peppered with episodes of "The IT Crowd" has helped immensely, but nothing short of hearing the theme music while watching the credits roll on the the first show of the new season of DM will cure me! Any help/information will be greatly appreciated.

Montreal Canada here. Could not agree more with everyone's obsession about Doc Martin and Series Five. My husband and I discovered one episode by accident, got hooked, and wanted to begin at the beginning. Bought the whole set of One through Four. Desperate for Five, and hope we will be able to access it on one of the channels we receive. If not, will beg, borrow or steal if necessary to purchase Five. Is it out yet? Please say YES>

I, too, have recently become completely hooked on Doc Martin. I live in Philadelphia, and have caught up on all the episodes via Netflix as well. I'm so excited about Series 5 - can't wait to see it!! Only who knows when they will air in the U.S...? Any idea if Clunes & Co. are game for a Series 6??

I live in Ontario Canada and have become absolutely hooked on DC. I am originally from Scotland and have never been so engaged with a TV series as I am with DC. Never tire of watching the reruns. The writing is so witty and caustic. Such a refreshing change from the usual garbage produced in North America. Let's have series 5 soon.

Originally from Scotland living in Ontario Canada. DC is the most engaging TV series I have ever watched. The writing is so witty and caustic and the characters are so convincing. So much better than the Holywood types we are fed here in N. America. Bring on series 5 ASAP before we all go "Bodmin" Enough of the COP SHOWS>

Another US addict here. Hubby and I both love Doc Martin, and British TV in general. Besides the wonderful Doc Martin, we have watched all other Martin Clunes shows and have loved everyone, he is a great actor, much better in my book than Hugh Laurie LOL. In addition to Martin we have enjoyed, Waiting for God, Keeping Up Appearances, Men Behaving Badly, Couplin(UK), A Touch of Frost and recently finished All Creatures Great and Small, an absolutely wonderful show.

I have been able to catch Doc series 5 thru youtube and it is wonderful! Now if Downton Abbey will return, all is good.

We absolutely love Doc Martin and have watched all 4 seasons and are anxiously awaiting season 5.
We actually purchased the first 4 season as we missed some and wanted to watch them in sequence

Hello,

I've just been reading all the comments about Doc Martin. I have to say I'm quite surprised at the American reaction to the show, I thought it was just a British favourite. Glad to see it's appreciated over there! I too love the show, been hooked since I first saw it. Loved Martin Clunes as an actor since Men Behaving Badly. Season 5 has ended here, I hope they make more!

Just love the Doc Martin series. We are in Australia. In fact when we went to England in July 2011 we HAD to visit Port Isaac. They were filming at the time but did not see Martin Clunes.
Have bought the 4 series and can't wait to get Series 5

I'm so glad to know I'm not alone! My family thinks I'm obsessed, which is probably somewhat true. I stumbled on Doc Martin on Netflix and, like others, became instantly addicted. Any recommendations for other series while I wait for Season 5? I've been watching Bramwell.

Dare I echo everyone else's comments? I'm now among the addicted. This is one of the best shows I've ever seen and I am not happy that I don't have access to Season 5 in the US. KCET now airs Seasons 1 - 4 but I watched them on Netflix. Does anyone know when Season 5 is due on Netflix?

I'm another addicted fan from Texas. My husband and I are actually starting the whole thing over again via Netflix because we are hooked and can't wait for Series Five. I have seen some indications of what is in store for us in Five from some trailers and pictures on the Web. I hope if they do a Series 6, they use Martin's and Louisa's parents to provide insight into their issues. Really some very funny and touching scenes could be had from all the material available. I just hope the writers allow them to commit to each other because that would be medicine for all of us in these hard times. Best to you all. I never thought I would need a "support group" because of a TV series.

Like all if you I too am addicted to this show. Initially, I was not impressed with the show. My first reaction was "What is so funny about someone being such a bugger.". Then one day Wham it just hit me this show is great. I am embarrassed to admit this. Oh well better late than never. I have watched seasons one through four on Netflix because I missed some of the previous shows. Is season five actually to premiere in 2013? I certainly hope not. What I enjoy most about the show is how the neuroses of every character parlays one another (especially the patients). I don't think show like this done here in the states would fare well. Is there a Doc Martin fan club?

Still waiting for my episode 5 CD from Acorn. In the meantime, I thought I'd say that I have rewatched every episodes except the non-wedding. Why? I think because it doesn't ring true to the characters. I can see Martin sitting and reflecting before he goes to the church. Some cold feet before the big event is natural. I never thought he would tell Louisa that she wouldn't make him happy. And Louisa, writing a note and taking it to his house. I can't believe her character would be capable of such cruelty. When Martin Clunes has been interviewed, He has said he didn't think this wedding thing was a good idea. Truthfully, it wasn't. I know these are just characters made up by writers (Spinners under the Tree of Life,) but their issues touch on some really tender and hurtful things. People love these characters. The brilliant boy who is different, wets the bed, is bullied and whose mother is a cold bitch while his father pretends to be Dr. wonderful. Louisa's father is a gambler and has no sense of being responsible. Her mother left them (when probably will be in series 5) You can almost see her scrappy little personality defending her parents and holding her head up in spite of them. Can people like this find love and happiness. Is Martin doomed to sitting alone evenings fixing his clocks? Will Louisa keep fighting and running away everytime her ego gets a bit deflated? Is their sexlife crap? Martin is sure a good kisser. I love it when he puts his hand on Louisa's face and wow! Thanks guys! I needed that!

Anonymous said...

You can watch season 5 on acorn online streaming in the US. I agree that the wedding episode does not seem true to the character of either Martin or Louisa especially after the episode where she tells him she doesn't want to see him again and he seems to take it so hard. In season 5 he grows colder when you would think having the child would warm him up some. I hope there is a season 6 and the writers allow him to resolve some of his issues but of course he still has to be who he is. Perhaps Aunt Ruth could help (she is great).

Anonymous said...

There needs to be a season 6 because 5 did not resolve anything about how these two very different people can find happiness together. Also was the dog hate really necessary? Did Martin's dog bite him as child or did his mother drown it or something? It seems so un-brittish to hate animals. Obviously I love the series inspite of a few flaws. I love that the characters are not all beautiful. I love that Louisa looks real after having a baby and not like a super model. I'd like to see Martin mellow towards his family. The fans deserve that.

Just finished Series 5. It was quite good, although Martin seemed to be more dim than usual. The last episode redeemed the wedding bit and I really loved it. What sweet babies they have. The scene with Martin reading the medical journal was lovely. OK, so I'm happy again. Maybe with 6 they will get married and have twins. Lotsa Love

Just finished series 5.....OMG. what a great series. I got hooked after Mum and Dad watched on PBS. Loved the scene where Martin tells Louise he loves her...aaawwwhhhh...we hope and waiting for
series six....is it true other countries are writing their own Doc Martin ???. I bet thats different. Thanks Martin and crew for bringing great entertaintment .We love it.........

Anonymous said...

Just watched Series 5 AGAIN. My husband is going to have me committed. Does Martin seem a bit fearful of Louisa? I know he should not have scheduled the Christening without her. That was really especially dumb. But, he seems to be in limbo about their relationship. Indeed, they sleep in the same bed but apparently no huggy kissey stuff. Louisa seems to be waiting for the big event and nothing is happening. Two months post partum seems realistic for some love, if you know what I mean. Still, the scene at the castle is good and clears the air as far as Martin is concerned. What about Louisa? I haven't heard the love word come out of her mouth since she got Martin drunk on red wine. What's up Louisa. It is about both of you, not just Martin. Lotsa love to ya'll.

My wife and I discovered this series on Netflix Canada and watched the first 3 seasons over 3 days, only to discover that we would have to get the DVDs to watch the rest, I am seriously reconsidering my Netflix subscription.
